Devin Castle (Easiest Day Trip from Bratislava)
If you’re looking for an easy day trip from Bratislava then you’re going to want to check out Devin Castle. This is a beautiful, picturesque 9th century castle that’s perched on a rugged hilltop overlooking the Danube and Morava rivers.
Not only are there amazing views of the surrounding countryside and the castle itself, but it’s an interesting archaeological site with a significant history for Slovakia.
The castle was a military refuge and defense for hundreds of years until 1809, when it was blown up by Napoleon’s Army. When you’re at Devin Castle there are a number of showcases where you can check out the various artifacts, sculptures, and learn about the history of the castle and surrounding area.
After exploring the castle there is easy access to a number of different hiking and cycling trails. This makes it a great place to visit if you’re taking advantage of one of our Bratislava bicycle rentals.
Getting to Devin Castle is easy – you can take the public bus number 29 from Most SNP. It’s about a 30-minute Journey. Alternatively, you can rent a cab or take an Uber from downtown.
